This novel was inspired by the World War Two diary of a heavy artillery army soldier and father to the author. The story takes the reader from his time in boot camp in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to the war in England and Western Europe. It’s a story of love, losses, survival and renewal, following life changing devastation caused by war.
