Which Edit Do I Need?
- The story or structure isn’t working yet (plot holes, pacing, characters, or a confusing argument): Content Editing
- The story works, but the sentences feel clunky: Line Editing
- It’s nearly ready and just needs a careful clean-up: Copy Editing
- You want both clean sentences and clean mechanics: the Copy and Line Editing Package

The Services
Copy Editing: $0.01 per word
A word-by-word check of a finished manuscript for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and consistency. I follow the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster, with Canadian or British spelling on request. Best for books that are nearly ready to publish.
Line Editing: $0.01 per word
I work sentence by sentence to improve clarity, flow, word choice, and readability, as well as catching errors. Best when your story is solid but the writing needs polish.
Copy and Line Editing Package: $0.015 per word
Both edits together, at a saving. My most popular choice for first-time authors.
Content Editing: $0.04 per word
The most thorough edit. I look at the big picture (structure, plot, pacing, character development, and the consistency of facts and ideas from start to finish) and include a full line edit as well. Best for early drafts, or for nonfiction that needs a clear, consistent message.
Editorial Assessment: $99
I read your first three chapters (up to 10,000 words), edit a sample section, and send you a written report on your manuscript’s strengths and the areas that need the most work. It’s a diagnosis, not a full edit, and there’s no obligation to book anything further.
Cover Copy Review: $49
Your back cover text, author bio, and any flap copy, turned into professional copy that makes readers want to open the book. We work from your ideas, and I don’t finish until you’re happy with it.
How It Works
- Send me your free 1,000-word sample.
- I return the sample edit with a recommendation and a quote.
- I edit your manuscript in Microsoft Word with tracked changes, so you see every suggestion.
- You accept or reject each change. Your book stays yours, start to finish.
Most edits take two to three weeks, depending on length and my current workload.
