Comic book writer Christopher Priest, a veteran in the industry, is tired of being stereotyped as just a “black writer.”

In an interview with ComicBooks.com, Priest explained the trend he’s been witnessing:

Priest said he ultimately took a break from the comic book world that he has worked in for the better part of three decades when he was offered mostly to write for black characters.

This trend was upsetting to Priest, as he believes that a writer can write about anything because “a writer writes.” He elaborated:
